WIF MEMBER MORGAN RHODES' FILM LITTLE WINGS PICKED UP BY ECHELON STUDIOS

WIF Member Morgan Rhodes's film Little Wings, has been picked up by Echelon Studios for worldwide distribution and is being translated and released in Italy. It will be available on Amazon.com and Netflix soon. Morgan has partnered with Childhelp, an organization which provides programs and treatment for victims of child abuse. WIF MEMBER SERITA STEVENS' BOOK THE FORENSIC NURSE PICKED UP BY CAPRI FILMS

WIF Member Serita Stevens' book, The Forensic Nurse (St Martin's Press) - a drama of how nurses assist police with solving crimes - has been picked up by Capri Films in Toronto and is in pilot development at CTV (Canadian TV.) Show runner is Greg Ball - originally from Bones. Serita has also optioned Dragon Seeds - her vampire princess movie loosely based on the adoption of her Romanian daughter - to August Sun Productions - Sean McNamara to direct; Christy Carlson Romano and Alexzandra Stevens to star.
 

ROY W. DEAN LA FILM AND LA VIDEO GRANTS DEADLINE JUNE 30 2008

The Roy W. Dean LA film and LA Video Grants are closing June 30, 2008. Seeking films that are unique and make a contribution to society with maximum budgets of $500,000. This can be a short, documentary or low budget Indie. Grants are in the form of goods and services, from cameras to editing and range between $25,000 and $40,000.

WOMEN IN FILM FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ITS 23RD ANNUAL FILM FINISHING FUND RECIPIENTS

The Women In Film Foundation (WIFF) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of its 23rd Annual Film Finishing Fund. This year, entries were reviewed by the wonderful team of WIFF, WIF Board volunteers and industry professionals. 10 finalists were ultimately chosen from a field of applicants from all over the world. This year, six feature documentaries were chosen. Winners include: Amanda Pope from Los Angeles, CA, for the documentary feature The Legend of Pancho Barnes; Lonnie Lardner from Thousand Oaks, CA, for the documentary feature Angel in the Hood; Heather Ross from Los Angeles, CA, for the documentary feature Girls on the Wall; Jessica Gerstle from New York, NY, for the documentary feature Travels with my Dad; Rebecca Schanberg from Chicago, IL , for the documentary feature Do No Harm; Roberta Grossman from Los Angeles, CA, for the documentary feature Blessed is the Match: The Life and Death of Hannah Senesh.
