The Malibu Golf Classic, one of Women In Film’s best-known and most popular events, takes place every summer at the Malibu Golf Club. A relaxing, informal day of golf, clinics and contests for prizes followed by cocktails, a reception dinner and an auction, the Malibu Golf Classic gives members and guests a chance to network with fellow WIF members and other industry professionals and tee up alongside Gary Sinise or Samuel L. Jackson.
Players of all levels are invited to participate.
What started as a golf game between members in 1998 has become a well-established industry event, where players and sponsors contribute thousands of dollars to WIF’s ever-growing slate of programs, workshops, scholarships and grants. 
But in spite of its growth, the Malibu Golf Classic has retained much of it’s original low-key beach-town aura where celebrities such as actor Louis Gossett, Jr., Edward James Olmos, Dennis Haysbert, Martin Sheen, Carl Weathers, The Brady Bunch Movie and Private Parts director Betty Thomas, actress Jane Seymour and model/actress Shari Belafonte mix it up with fellow golfers and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition.

For this year's Classic we again have the Golf Ball Drop Challenge sponsored by Physician's Choice Dialysis. Even if you can't attend in person, you can score a hole-in-one. For a donation you get a stake in one or more golf balls that will be dropped from a helicopter over hole #1 on the Malibu Golf Club course.
Whoever donates the ball that goes in the hole (or the one that gets closest) will win two tickets to the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards® Ceremony on September 23, 2012 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The donation packages will be:

Smokey Robinson is one of the most beloved and influential figures in the history of popular music. Celebrating his 50th anniversary in the music business and the 50th Anniversary of Motown Records, Robinson has logged 37 Top 40 Hits in his career.
Robinson has received numerous awards in his long career in the business including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Grammy Award for “Best R&B Performance, Male,” and The Soul Train Music Award for Career Achievement. He has been inducted to the Songwriter Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has also received the prestigious Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award from ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) during the 22nd Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. Boston’s Berklee College of Music, bestowed an honorary degree on Smokey in May 2009 and in the same month the Ivor Novello Awards, presented Robinson with the UK International Special Achievement Award and he also is a recipient of a Doctorate of Music degree from Howard University.
Robinson has been inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame both as a solo artist and with his group, The Miracles. He received a Kennedy Center honor in 2006 and is the sterling pen and satin voice behind such mega hits as “Shop Around,” “Tracks of My Tears,” “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “Tears of a Clown,” “I Second That Emotion,” “Going to a Go-Go” and “Cruisin’,” among many others.
