DANICA KRISLOVICH
Danica Krislovich founded Guardian Productions, Inc. a Los Angeles based independent branded entertainment production company, in 1999 and has produced high concept television in non-fiction, scripted, specials, TV movies, and documentaries for broadcast, cable, digital, and international distribution. Drawing from over 20 years of producing, Danica Krislovich is known to provide innovative, commercial, and quality entertainment in both traditional and new media.
Danica Krislovich is an award-winning Executive Producer who is known as a global content provider--she brings an entrepreneurial point of view to her productions and specializes in high concept, pop culture entertainment. Based on her strong relationships with producers, broadcasters, and talent, she has created, packaged, produced, and funded projects through advertisers & international co-financing from conception to distribution. She is adept at developing commercial and mainstream ideas with celebrity talent in music, sports, film and TV. Being a showrunner and having been a development executive, Danica is a rare breed of producers that can truly be the connective tissue between the business and creative sides of production in delivering a show. She has generated franchises, negotiated licensing/merchandising deals, promoted live events, and strategically positioned content to capitalize and maximize revenue on all platforms by creating alternative business models. Every show and idea that Danica generates always has a business model that incorporates many ancillary revenue streams and multiple platform distribution. Danica has overseen production from nuts to bolts, and managed the business side which includes: attaining corporate sponsors, integrating their brands financially and creatively, and successfully collaborating with ad sales & programming divisions at networks to work within mutually beneficial models. This includes media buying and negotiating time buy & license-fee deals.
Danica Krislovich has spent a considerable amount of time in television which includes scripted and reality genres, live event sports entertainment specials, music programming, and TV movies for FOX, NBC, CBS, USA, ABC, Lifetime, A&E, Discovery, Showtime, ESPN, TNT, MTV, VH-1, ABC Family. She has had overall deals as a showrunner at Universal, Sony, and Paramount studios. Her eclectic slate of productions is reflected in her ability to introduce progressive ideas into ancillary multiple platforms. In a deal with Participant Media, she created and developed high concept, socially relevant programs and worked with takepart.com, the digital side of Participant, in developing content. She developed several documentaries, including the upcoming tragic story of Bridgend. She was also the Executive Producer on behalf of Quiznos for The USA Pro Challenge: The Most Challenging Race in America. Her forte is creating story with rich characters. She currently has a first look deal with Hans Zimmer in developing content and bringing together the world of music and other forms of entertainment for television, digital media, and gaming. Her latest project consists of launching an on demand digital network, Intertube Network.
In her years at MTV from 1989-98 in the NY and LA offices, she worked on multi-camera music and sports events specials/series. She worked with high level film, music, and sports talent on shows such as Rock N Jock Basketball and Softball Specials; Beach MTV Summer Series; Spring Break 1990, 1991, 1992; New Year's Eve Specials; Remote Control, Sandblast; Manetti Film Series; Jon Stewart Show, MTV Sports, House of Style. Her work led to a Cable Ace Award for a daily teen syndicated magazine series Like We Care.
With her overall deals at FOX Broadcasting Network and Sony Television, she has created and produced shows that “made noise” and have set record ratings under her production banner such as sports event specials: Battle of the Sexes on Ice I, II, and III; award winning special Women of Lillehammer: Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan Breaking the Ice; TV comedy movie Ice Angel (highest premier for a TV movie on ABC Family); documentary On Thin Ice with Fox Television Studios and FOX Broadcasting Network. She also produced the syndicated pilot “Rendez-View” with Greg Proops and was a showrunner on “Fifth Wheel” with Renegade. When at Paramount Network Television, she created a teen reality series, Reality Check, with partner Henry Winkler. Prior to Paramount, Danica was with NBC’s Access Hollywood as Nancy Odell’s first producer. She was one of the first producers on special, talent-driven featured segments, including an anthology on Madonna.
As Senior Vice-President, Development for FremantleMedia, Krislovich developed, and packaged international reality television, including formats for domestic distribution. She was also at Fremantle when launching the first year of American Idol and worked with MTV’s TRL on branded segments with Johnson & Johnson with Fremantle’s NY office. Under her production banner, she produced her first animated children’s movie with First Look Pictures called Easter Egg Adventures starring James Woods, Brooke Shields, Joey Pantoliano It hit record high international and domestic DVD sales, has won numerous awards in international animation film markets, and is an annual holiday special on Starz.
From 2004-2007, she was the Senior Vice-President, Programming at Madison Road Entertainment and launched original programming at the start-up while creating financial models to subsidize content with branded integration dollars. She was one of the co-creaters and a producer on Treasure Hunters with Imagine Television at NBC, which generated 50% of the series budget in brand integration revenue and created an online game/ event in tandem with the series. Her unique abilities to develop with talent continued with Eco-Town (aka Greensburg) for Leonardo Dicaprio and with Pilgrim Films--an environmental docuseries for Discovery. She also struck a 3-year partnership with NASCAR to generate branded content for television and digital platforms.
Krislovich began her career in concert promotions for Delsner/Slater productions in NYC working with talent such as Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Billy Joel, Madonna, No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, and Cher. She was also an entertainment journalist reporting for ESPN and various FOX Sports affiliates interviewing television personalities, film talent, and athletes.
Ms. Krislovich credits her accomplishments to her strong work ethic and integrity, bolstered by a commitment to oversee every aspect of the production process and to truly stay ahead of trends. Her limitless energy and creativity have consistently helped her to solidify relationships with high-level talent. She is a strong visionary leader with a self-motivated, “big picture” perspective, yet always willing to “roll up her sleeves” and get the job done in a truly collaborative style. Born in Croatia and raised in NY and Europe, she graduated New York University as a University Scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and then went to Oxford University and studied English Literature and Theater. She values her philanthropy efforts and has been able to bring her cause marketing, directing, and producing skills to her work in the non-profit world. She is a board member of Women in Film and Chairperson of the WIF Television & Media Committee; a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; one of the top 100 most highly acclaimed people in entertainment of Who’s Who Worldwide; a Two time Telly Award winning director and producer for PSAs for ENOUGH Project with John Prendergast on the conflicts and war crimes in Africa; member of the Board of Advisors for Lysa Heslov’s Children Mending Hearts; a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition Group.. Her professional work with Participant Media furthered her involvement in socially relevant issues by bringing attention to these causes in the media. She has extended her expertise in directing and producing PSAs for various high profile causes with A list talent to supplement the messaging for Participant’s Social Campaigns for their documentaries and features, including for the documentary Food, Inc and feature, The Visitor. If you ask her what is her favorite part of entertainment, her answer would be “All of it.”
